Overcoming Fall Risks
At our center, providing support at every age is essential. Our Fall Prevention for the Aging Body program helps adults take back their physical independence with fitness techniques. This six-week program is designed to help individuals stay strong and coordinated. Participants can work with a certified fitness specialist and yoga instructor to also improve balance through a comprehensive 30-minute fitness assessment.
At the beginning of the session, our team determines everyone’s starting points for success. We keep our guided exercise sessions to 24 adults for a personalized wellness experience.
Fitness Specialist Brianna Paul discusses her insights from an expert’s perspective. “The fall prevention program takes a holistic approach. It not only focuses on building physical strength and balance. It also boosts confidence in everyday tasks and hobbies. The combination of therapeutic yoga with strength training has created a well-rounded experience. Participants have shown great progress, both physically and mentally.”
Tracking our participants’ progress is one of several components of our program. We work on effective breathing techniques, guided meditations, and balance-focused yoga. Our goal is to control fall risks in more than one way.
Fall Prevention for the Aging Body gained such positive feedback that it was recognized by the Medical Fitness Association for Program Innovation in 2023. Participants and instructors alike praised the program’s significant impact.
Program Testimonials
We asked several participants from our fall session what resonated with them during this program.
One of our participants, Michele, reveals her personal connection to this program. “After several falls and injuries from losing my balance, this seemed like a good fit. I had nothing to lose and hopefully much to gain. I can say that this class did not disappoint.”
Michele also notes her significant growth. “This class not only taught me strength and flexibility, but also confidence. With every milestone I achieved, my self-esteem went up a notch. Before I knew it, I was standing taller and not as wobbly. At that point, I was now able to look up and not down with every step I took.”
Trish Bernstein is a yoga instructor at the center. She mentions how fitness can have a healing approach. “As we age, we might feel stiffer, weaker, and notice changes in our balance. However, we can restore movement, build confidence, and support a more vibrant life through therapeutic yoga.”
